| Description | Half length. Looking every inch the successful industrialist, Sir Donald, facing to the right, sits in a leather covered chair holding his spectacles in one hand and a letter in the other. A note of prosperity is struck by the gold watch-chain suspended from the waistcoat. There is a table to the side with almanacs, papers and a silver ink-stand. A plain background is given zest by vigorous brush-strokes in red brown. The portrait is fluently painted and characteristically facile. |
