| Description | Highmore at age 63. He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, where he graduated Batchelor of Medicine (1641), and Doctor of Medicine (1642). He went on to practise as a medic in Dorset. He became good friends with William Harvey (1578-1657), the discoverer of circulation of the blood. Highmore published several works, his first, on the human body, he dedicated to William Harvey, giving a full account of the anatomy of the body. He was also familiar with the anatomy of the dog and sheep. |
