Euphonicon (upright piano) | John Steward | Circa 1845
This instrument looks like a harp but the exposed strings were never played with a person’s fingers. It is a style of upright piano, which copies the look of a harp by not hiding its strings behind a wood case. The euphonicon was one of a number of ‘harp pianos’ which were popular in the mid-19th century and brought of touch of elegance into the player’s home.
