DescriptionTechnical description: Set of miniature Highland bagpipes in ebony with ivory mounts, consisting of bass and tenor drones with stocks, chanter stock, and blowpipe/mouthpiece and stock.Chanter stock with ivory ferrule.Blowpipe/mouthpiece: black horn on original blowpipe and stock. Leather valve. Original ivory mounts.Bass Drone: three sections. Ivory top and mounts.Tenor drone 1: two sections. Cane reed.Tenor drone 2: two sections. Cane reed. Measurements: bass drone length c535, bore at top 6.5; tenor drones length c270, bore at top 6.5. Repair History: Repaired by Jon Swayne 2012: the bass drone stock and ferrules on the bass and tenor 1 stock replaced; earlier repair of the broken lower half and mount of lower bass drone section in hardwood and boxwood replaced in ebony and ivory; new horn mouthpiece. |
