DescriptionTechnical description: The instrument is opened and no longer has its soundboard. The back, ribs, head and neck are of sycamore; the fingerboard and endpin are ebony. The ribs have been heavily patched inside. The varnish is a dark brown colour, almost opaque. There is a pine strip for the soundpost, 100 wide, 14 thick. The top and bottom blocks and corner blocks are pine. The neck is lightly figured. Two piece back; the fold is more of a curve rather than a sharp angle. Large dowel from the back into the top block. Neck length 435; fingerboard length 823, width at nut 39.2, at bottom 93.5. Originally had machine heads.
