Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Serial number: 55598. Overall size: 590; corpus diameter c 320; bell 275. Sounding length: Overall air column length of crooks: (a) 755 single coil, (b) 980 single coil, (c) 1359 double coil, (d) 1821 double coil, (e) 2049 triple coil. Bore: v.t.s. (1,2,3) 11.5; m.t.s. 11.5. Bell flare:- Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. of crooks, at end: (a) 7.6, (b) 7.7, (c) 7.7, (d) 7.6, (e) 7.6. External taper of crooks: (a) 13.0 - 13.7, (b) 12.8 - 13.9, (c) 13.0 - 14.0, (d) 12.8 - 14.0, (e) 13.0 - 13.8. Crook receiver taper on body 14.2 - 13.2 Inscribed on bell: trademark of bass drummer motif with "BEAT THE WORLD" on drum, "REGISTERED" above, "TRADE MARK" below; "Gold. / Medal / R.J. WARD & SONS / 10. ST. ANNE ST. / LIVERPOOL"; on valve top & bottom caps & casings "16", "17", "18"; on side of 2nd valve casing "R.J. WARD & SONS / LIVERPOOL / 55598"; stamped on crook mouthpipes: (a) "LA / B", (b) "SOL", (c) "FA", (d) "MI / B", (e) "RE". Fitted wooden case, lined with chamois.
