Description

Technical description: Side-blown, open-ended bamboo flute, with bone ferrules and silk binding; mouth-hole, nasalizing hole for membrane and 6 finger-holes on top; 4 vent-holes; diameter 22.5mm. Nasalizing membrane missing. Overall size: 640mm. Specific literature references: Hipkins 1885, p.117; probably to be identified with Engel 1872, item 488. Illustration references: Hipkins and Gibb 1888, plate XLVII.
