DescriptionTechnical description: Stained boxwood; 4 sections; brass key; 4 ivory ferrules plus cap; large oval embouchure-hole; roughly-cut finger-holes on upper body. Keymount type: ring; SATK. Keyhead type: flat square. Repair History: Upper body has no maker's mark and is possibly a short replacement for playing at a higher pitch; embouchure altered. Overall size: 614mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot: 533mm Bore: conical Stamped "PROSER"; key stamped under spring "I.H" (probably indicating John Hale, see Tromlitz ed. Powell 1800/1996, p.185). Performance characteristics: [Original range D⁴ - A⁶]. In present condition only a few notes speak, these being in the second octave and not of reliable pitch. |
