DescriptionTransverse flute (dizi). Bamboo flute with six finger holes and one merliton hole. Merliton, known as the di mo is traditionally made from either the inner layer of a certain type of bamboo or from a type of river reed. This merliton appears to be rice paper. Attached to instrument with medical tape (future conservation issue). Instrument is painted black and decorated with an etched and coloured dragon and inscribed with Chinese writing. China. |
