The crescent- and diamond-shaped base plates, combined with wide silver ferrules and serial number between 1 and c 5500 (1818-36) all help to suggest a date of c 1830 for this instrument (Giannini 1993, pp.82-92, 166). Keymount type: pillars with crescent- and diamond-shaped base-plates screwed into wood (flush with body); leaf-springs. Keyhead type: round, bevelled cup. |
