DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood; 4 sections; silver keys; 4 ivory ferrules plus cap; screw-stopper; small oval embouchure-hole; overlapping low C / C♯ touches. Keymount type: ring/ knob, with metal pins through low C, C♯ and D♯ keymounts. Keyhead type: flat square, notched and chamfered. Repair History: Keyheads scratched, possibly to improve grip. Overall size: 669mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot, 599mm Bore: conical Stamped with fleur-de-lis and "I. HALE / LONDON". Also stamped "5" on upper body, suggesting that this may be the middle size of three corps-de-rechange (4, 5, 6), or possibly one of six. C♯ key touchpiece stamped on back "I.H" indicating John Hale. Performance characteristics: [Original range C⁴ - A⁶]. In present condition, few notes speak. Usable pitch: A⁴ c 429 Hz. |
