Description3 valves. Technical description: Brass. Tuning slide in distal bow, with water key; ligature tuning at joint between valve and bell sections. Fitting for music card holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Tuning slide in distal bow stuck; 2nd v.t.s. stuck (already a repair or possibly a replacement?). Bell stay end inelegantly repaired with soft solder. Overall size: 622; bell 159. Sounding length: minimum 1971. Bore: at c 20mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum), 10.8; m.t.s. bore, 12.0; v.t.s. (1, 2), 12.4; v.t.s. (3), 12.3; at 986mm before bell end, c 12.1; at c 364mm from bell end, 17.1; at 27.9mm from bell end, 116.0. B = 0.70. Bell cutoff = 800 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.2 - 11.0. Inscribed on bell "M. SLATER / MAKER / 42 CORTLANDT ST. / NEW YORK"; on valve casings, top and bottom caps "33", "32", "31". Purchased by lender and possibly formerly used with mouthpiece (3705). |
