Valve type: 3 Périnet valves with elliptical cross-section windway between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd valves (bore changes from cylindrical to elliptical in valve passages); bottom sprung. Overall size: 604; bell 171. Sounding length: minimum 2028. Bore: mouthpipe at 60mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 10.85; centre of valve cluster at c 241mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) c 11.7; m.t.s. at c 391mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 12.0; at 1014mm from bell end, c 14.6; at c 524mm from bell end, 20.65; at 17.7mm from bell end, 110.6. B = 0.60. Bell cutoff = 1000 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.3 - 11.2. Inscribed on bell garland "August Knopf Markneukirchen"; and on upper side of bell "D.R.G.M. / 213703"; on bottom caps of valve housings "1", "2","3". Decorative features: Ring combing on ferrules. Usable pitch: If in E♭, slightly below A⁴ Diapason Normal; if in D, plays at c 70 cents above A⁴ = 439 Hz. Purchased by lender with but probably not formerly used with mouthpiece (3204). |
