Originally with full set of crooks for B♭ alto, A, A♭, G, F, E, E♭, D, C and coupler for B♭ basso. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves. Serial number: 3543. Overall size: perpendicular to bell 425; corpus diameter 324; bell diameter 284. Sounding length: segment lengths: from distal end of ferrule after valves 523; bell segment 918. Bore: bell flare: - Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. of crooks (208a) 7.8 at end, (208b) 7.9 at end, (208c) 7.8 at end, (208d) 7.9 at end, (208e) 7.9 at end; external tapers of crooks (208a) 12.0 - 12.6, (208b) 11.7 - 12.3, (208c) 12.0 - 12.6, (208d) 12.1 - 12.7, (208e) 12.0 - 12.6. Crook receiver taper on body 13.3 - 12.3. Inscribed on bell "Prize Medal" / monogram "R C & Co" / "Patent / RUDALL CARTE & CO / Manufacturers / 23 / BERNERS STREET / OXFORD STREET / LONDON / No 3543". Inscribed on caps and sides of valve casings "1", "2", "3". Inscribed on reverse side of middle valve with monogram "R C & Co"; on crooks (208a) "Ab", (208b) "G", (208c) "E", (208d) "D", (208e) "C". Repair History: Crooks for Bb alto, A, F, Eb and coupler for Bb basso (the most used of the set) missing. Usable pitch: Plays at A4 = 446 Hz with a tuning slide pushed in. |
