Repair History: C key probably added to 4-keyed instrument (although a pewter plug like the other keyheads, it has a slim keyshank which does not match the style of the others, and is mounted on a metal saddle not a wooden block). Overall size: 503 mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot, 441 mm Bore: conical Performance characteristics: Range D⁴ - B♭⁶ (sounding F⁴ - D♭⁷). Octave intonation poor in all settings, most stable on 4. Speaks easily throughout range. Usable pitch: On 6, sounding A⁴ c 440 Hz; on 5, c 437 Hz; on 4, c 428 Hz. Stamped on tuning-slide section with fleur-de-lis and "GOULDING / D'ALMAINE / POTTER & CO / SOHO-SQUARE / LONDON / 3"; stamped on body sections and foot "GOULDING & CO."; stamped on head ferrule "PATENT"; tuning gradations stamped "4", "5" and "6" on tuning-slide and screw. Upper body tenon chipped.
