Description4 valves. Technical description: Brass; angled layout; tuning-slide with wide bow; 3 valves for right hand, 4th for left hand; ligature fitting at joint. Valve type: 4 Berlin-type valves (ports of each in a plane, with straight through path when not operated; less then 90° windway deflection when valves operated). Signature marks: Inscribed on bell with A.S. PARIS monogram / "SEUL / GRAND PRIX / 1867 / ADOLPHE SAX / Facteur Breveté / DE LA MON MRE DE L'EMPEREUR / 50. Rue St Georges / A PARIS / NO 34539", the `L' of `SEUL' not present; inscribed on 1st valve top cap and side "1"; on 2nd valve top cap and side "2"; on 3rd valve side only "3"; on 4th valve no inscriptions. Overall size: Length along bell section 682; length along valve section 524; bell 167. Sounding length: minimum 2375. Bore: at c 40mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.2; not expanding in 100 mm from mouthpiece receiver distance to m.t.s. 344mm, m.t.s. bore 11.6 - 12.0; v.t.s.
