DescriptionTechnical description: Brass; plated stockings; wired bell rim. No tuning-slide, locks or water-key; short stockings. Slide separation 116 (centres); slide length 825. Weight of outer slide 482.5 g (without handle). Overall size: 1355; bell 158. Sounding length: minimum 3149. Bore: at c 20mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 12.45; not expanding in 100 mm from mouthpiece receiver; descending slide, 12.45; ascending slide, 12.45; at c 663mm from bell end, 17.6; at 15.9mm from bell end, 103.8. B = 0.76. Bell cutoff = 1100 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.6 - 12.5 (i.e. hardly a taper). Usable pitch: A⁴ = 440 Hz or very slightly higher. Performance characteristics: Responsive and well-in-tune. Repair History: Original handle missing. New handle by Frank Tomes, supplied 31.8.00, copy of handle of G bass trombone in the Guy Oldham collection. No inscriptions.
