DescriptionTechnical description: African blackwood with keys probably silver-plated. Reed well and sockets also lined with metal. Simple octave keys. The G♯ key and L3 ring lower the L1 plate. Depressing the low C key lowers the R2 plate and R3 ring and closes the brille. System: Thumbplate L0: TP; 8.1. L1: PP; 8.2; spat. L2: R; Dtr-alt. L3: R; D♭tr. L4: G♯; low B; low B♭; E♭-alt; F-alt. R0: sup. R1: R; TP-alt. R2: PP. R3: R; F. R4: low C; C♯; E♭. Performance characteristics: Using a smaller reed than would be used for a modern oboe, the instrument made a clear, bright tone quality with excellent attack and intonation. Has a few leaks and the mechanism is a little sluggish. Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch (A = 453 Hz) Signature/Marks: Stamped on all three sections with "F. LORÉE" / five-pointed star / "PARIS".
