DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood; 4 sections; brass key; no additional ferrules; small, slightly oval embouchure-hole; plain design; distinctive grain. Keymount type: ring. Keyhead type: rectangular, curved to fit shape of foot. Repair History: Crack in head pinned by Lorraine Wood, London 1982 (has reopened); replacement foot with brass key, and cap, made by William Foster, Shropshire 1983. Overall size: 617mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot: 545mm Bore: conical Stamped "CAHUSAC / LONDON". Stamped out of line with embouchure-hole on head, in order that this mark should be in line with others when head in playing position. Performance characteristics: [Original range D⁴ - A⁶]. In present condition only F⁵ - E⁶ available, but these have a clear sound. Usable pitch: A⁴ c 425 Hz (c 426 Hz). |
