Description | These photogravure etchings are large-scale works which develop the ideas behind Innes’ Repetition series of paintings (the ‘R’ in the title is a reference to this) and which use the possibilities of printmaking to move these ideas forward in a new way.
Innes has employed his trademark “unpainting” technique to create the prints – applying oil paint onto a transparent polythene film then removing layers of paint using turpentine. The resulting images have been transferred onto etching plates using a light-sensitive film exposed under UV light. |
