Technical Description

Technical description: The round, concave, varnished (?) pernambuco stick has metal winding and ends in a modern head with an ivory headface. The screw-mechanism, rounded, ebony frog has mother-of-pearl decorative eyes, a mother-of-pearl slide, a metal ferrule with a wooden ferrule wedge, and a metal underslide and heelplate. The bow currently has black hair. The ebony button has nickel rings, a mother-of-pearl button eye offset from the centre of the end of the button, and is octagonal with a rim.

Measurements: Weight: 143g. Hair length: 498mm. Balance point: 242mm. Head height: 45.1mm. Head width: 21.2mm. Face length: 45.1mm. Tip diameter: 9.7mm. Frog diameter: 13.1mm. Nipple range: 1 to 1.4mm. Period of oscillation: 1.36. Distance from pivot to tail: 105.8mm. Button length: 25.3. Ferrule width: 23.2. Frog + stick height: 37.8mm. Frog top length: 68.0mm.

Inscriptions: The finger side of the stick is stamped "THIBOUVILLE LAMY" over the frog; it is 1.62mm high and 18.55mm wide. The top of the "Y" is missing. There is also a "/" scratched into the underslide in front of the screw eye.

The ivory headface is broken off from the front end of the head mortise and wood near the tip is chipped. The front ridge of the tip is scratched.
