The Huschauer firm was comprised of Joseph Huschauer I, and his son Joseph Huschauer II. Joseph I (b1723) was a brass instrument maker who produced horns with added valves. His son, Joseph II (1848-1805) made brass instruments like his father, but worked instead with the Starzer firm, which he took over in February 1791 following the death of Starzer, with whom he had worked with for over 20 years. Upon Joseph II’s death in 1805, his widow took over the business and ran the firm until her retirement in 1815. The business then fell into the hands of the horn and trumpet maker’s guild.
