Maker Biography

Jacques Émile Albert (1849-1918) was the middle son of Eugéne Albert. After studying at the Bruxelles conservatoire, Jacques Émile was the first of the three Albert brothers to establish his own workshop in 1878. He was succeeded by his son Lucien and the company became known as Jacques Albert Fils.

Technical description: Brass body, keywork and crook; body folded in five sections; wide crook tip; holes are almost as wide as the bore so that only one at a time need be opened, since no further venting is required; with water-key on crook and music card-holder fitting. L0: D; E♮; F; speaker. L1: C; B♮ (or for L2). L2: B♭ (or for L3). L3: A (or for L4), L4: G♯. R0: F♯; G. R1: C♯; D (or for R2). R2: D♯ (or for R3). R3: E (or for R4). R4: F♮.
