DescriptionA collection of approximately 500 books, slides, historical medical equipment and apparatus relating to important developments in anaesthesiology. Equipment includes wire masks for use with a cloth and chloroform, anaesthetic machines, glass and metal equipment. Collection also includes an early range of historic books on anaesthetics, photographs and slides. One of the collection's most historic items is a glass bottle in a leather case, used by Professor James Young Simpson to administer chloroform.
