Description

Raft zither: rectangular zither made from natural material. 21 cane segments woven together with what appears to be a raffia-like thatched material. 15 “strings” (one broken) constructed from strips of the cane. Two bridges, one on each end of the zither, made of cane. Underside of zither contains a shaker made of woven natural fibre. Inside the woven pocket are tiny stones which act as the rattle. Most likely West African.
