Technical description: Pair of tempered steel tuning forks to C 528 Hz (which would be A₄ 444.0 Hz for equal temperament).
Stamped on (481/C) on front of shank "CRAMER & CO.", on one side of shank "C 528.VIB PER.SEC" and on other side of shank "R. SOC. ARTS"; stamped on (481/A) on front of shank "CRAMER & CO.", on one side of shank "R. SOC. ARTS" and on other side of shank "A EQ TEMPT. TO C / 528.VIB PER.SEC".
With fitted red leather covered case with hinged lid with red velvet lining, outside of lid printed in gold letters "R. Soc. Arts".
Usable pitch: (481/C), measured frequency +/- 0.1 cents, 533.78 Hz; equivalent to C5 at A4 = 448.9 Hz; C5 +18.8 cents with respect to C5 = 528 Hz; +34.3 cents with respect to A4 = 440 Hz. (481/A), measured frequency +/- 0.1 cents, 446.24 Hz; A4 +8.8 cents with respect to C5 = 528 Hz; +24.5 cents with respect to A4 = 440 Hz.
