DescriptionTechnical description: brass, giving at first glance the impression of casting, but in fact fabricated from thinner sections soldered together; hinged clasps for two parallel tubes (centres 85mm apart, diameter c 13.5). Overall size: 110.5. No inscriptions. Decorative features: catches in form of dragon head (or other mystical beast); overall decoration with abstract foliage motifs; clasps engraved with non stylised picture of a bird (perhaps a short eared owl?), probably a maker's mark. |
