Description
Technical description: Part only of harp consisting of headstock and upper part of bow. 44 wrestpins. Wooden sections of sycamore (?). Top of bow carved with gesso decorations which has been gilded. Lever action remains in the bow for altering semitones.
Serial number: 517.
Overall size: 795 × 606.
Engraved on the brass plates "517 / Improved Patent / No 517", British coat of arms, "Frederick Grosjean / No. 11 / Soho Square, London"
Decorative features: The bow is fluted, with the fluting gilded. Decoration appears to be varnished over the sycamore (possibly with some graining) and gilded lines and mouldings, also varnished over.
Repair History: Some of the gesso decoration is missing, and part of the very top of the bow has broken off exposing the wood. |
