Description
Technical description: Stained boxwood or cocus, varnished, with plain german silver ferrules (no bell-rim); Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Mouthpiece not grooved for cord. Bell hardly bulbous. Upper section: Zig-zag rod and axle speaker, chimney. Speaker liner projects c 1mm into bore. Wood under touchpieces for speaker and throat A recessed to fit the keys. Lower section: shaped thumb rest. Unusual shape of the keys for L4 are very similar to those of (2842), Boosey & Hawkes, 1904. Patent C sharp mechanism.

Keyhead type: modern.
With well-made brown leather military-type case, end-loading, with paper label "BRAGANZA & CO. / EVERYTHING MUSICAL / 2A, Marquis Street, CALCUTTA".
Mouthpiece chipped at tip. Bell ferrule loose. Ferrules of barrel lost.
Repair History: Crude repair to touch of speaker, also to G♯ key. |
