Description
Technical description: This hollow, Vuillaume self-hairing, squared, ebony frog has a brass (?) self-hairing device inside and no decorative features. The interior metal self-hairing device is partially corroded in a green colour. The tarnished silver backplate and heel are made of one piece held in place by a rusty stud. There are also an ebony bottomplate and ebony slide tracks. Ferrule width: 13.95mm. Frog height: 25.25mm. Frog top length: 49.7mm.
Inscription: Labelled "F30" and attached label reads "VUILLAUMES / Patent nut / Self Hairing".
The tarnished silver ferrule has no wedge, but some hair remains inside, continuing to the back of the frog (inside). There is a chipped and cracked mother-of-pearl slide. The ferrule, heelplate, and bottomplate no longer fit well. The sides bulge outward.
