DescriptionTechnical description: Brass, three-part ball with groove. Twin clock spring drum slide return; notch on upper touchpiece. The slide can lower the pitch by up to two semitones. Pitch recorded as A=450 when played by Madeuf.

Other InformationSpecific usage history: Slide trumpets (2975) and (2977) both belonged to well-known Huddersfield 19th century trumpet player, Joseph Wood (`Trumpeter Joe') 1829-1896. Wood played regularly in oratorio performances in Sheffield, Liverpool and Belfast; an account of his life is given in the Huddersfield Examiner Supplement, 25 Sept 1896. |
