DescriptionTechnical description: The concave, round, pernambuco stick has metal winding and ends in a modern head with a T-shaped mortise and an ebony headface. The open, screw-mechanism, squared (without sharp corners), ebony frog has mother-of-pearl eyes. The button is made of ivory over ebony and is octagonal with a rim.

Inscriptions: The stick is stamped "J. DODD" over the frog on the thumb side; the stick stamp is 2.24mm high and 14.50mm wide. The "J" is partially hidden under the frog. The frog is stamped "J> DODD", upside down, near the bottom edge of the finger side; it is 2.39mm high and 14.50mm wide. The last "D" was pressed deeper than the other letters.
The stick has a knot near its centre. There is a small chip missing from the headface and a scratch or hairline crack on the finger side of the head from the headface. At the other end of the stick, the nipple is dented. There are small slivers missing from the top of frog (which lacks an underslide). The frog is cracked around the screw eye. The finger-side decorative eye is missing and the button is cracked.
