DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass. Rotary quick-change valve, B♭ to A, between main tuning-slide and 3rd valve. One water-key. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves; top sprung. Inscribed on bell "Jedson / FOREIGN MADE / REGD"; on valves "10", "11 / 2", "12". Overall size: 483; bell 122 Sounding length: minimum 1288. Bore: mouthpipe at c 23mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 10.7; m.t.s. at c 203mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning-slide bores 11.3-11.7; centre of valve cluster at c 604mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (3, 2, 1) 11.2; at 644mm from bell end, c 11.2; at c 287mm from bell end, 15.8; at 19.2mm from bell end, 65.3. B = 0.71. Bell cutoff = 1300 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.5-10.7. Performance characteristics: Not well in tune with itself. Usable pitch: Plays c 75 cents above A⁴ 440 Hz with tuning-slide in; pulling slide 46 mm allows A⁴ 439 Hz, but still not in tune.
