Mouthpiece ebonite with ligature; barrel slightly bulbous with a metal tuning slide. Upper section: tenon lined with metal. Zig-zag rod and axle speaker, tone-hole on the front of the instrument, chimney bowl-shaped, speaker liner projects c 2mm into bore. Tone-hole for R1 raised and lined with plastic; Barret action. Lower section: socket lined with german silver; thumb rest shaped and countersunk; patent C sharp. Bell with integral wood rim; tenon lined with german silver.
