DescriptionAuxiliary slide (pulley) model. Technical description: Brass. The main slide is of a length normal for a trombone in 9-ft B♭. It is connected by a cord via two pulleys mounted on the bell section to an auxiliary slide in such a way that as the main slide is moved the auxiliary slide moves backwards half the distance that the main slide moves forwards, thus giving a correct total slide extension for an instrument in 13-ft E♭. This allows reading parts in bass clef with the normal slide positions for tenor trombone parts in tenor clef or reading parts for E♭ bass in treble clef with the normal slide positions for tenor trombone parts in treble clef). Both main and auxiliary slides have stockings. Overall size: bell bow to joint, 535; joint to slide bow, 785 (total 1320); bell 190. Sounding length: minimum 3901. Bore: at c 40mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.05; descending slide, 11.05; ascending slide, 12.5; auxiliary slide, 12.45; m.t.s. proximal bore, 14.2; at c 772mm from bell end, 17.6; m.t.s. distal bore, 20.85; at 24.0mm from bell end, 108.5; B = 0.71. Bell cutoff = 900 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 - 11.6. Inscribed on bell "THE TRIUMPH / Class A / 10121" / Salvation Army emblem containing motto "BLOOD AND FIRE" and "THE SALVATION ARMY" within ribbon beneath / "MANUFACTURED / BY THE / SALVATION ARMY / TRADE HEAD QUARTERS / Judd St. Kings Cross / London.". With non original fitted hard case, covered in black leathercloth. General literature references: Grinstead, 1905. Usable pitch: very high - almost E natural - with associated mouthpiece.
