Technical description: `Columbia' model, introduced in 1910. Silver-plated brass; auxiliary main tuning-slide for A with restraining rod; two water-keys. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, top sprung with compression spring inside hollow stem; Alignment by 3-tined spring plate. Cornet. Nominal pitch: Bb A. Maker: Boosey & Co. London. 1911. Serial number: instrument 81878; valves 65178. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was "Bb Cornet Columbia F.P." Model A6 made by Bauwens in a batch of 12. Overall size: 351; bell 121. Bore: m.t.s. 11.60; v.t.s. (3,2,1) 11.60. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 10.0 11.1. Inscribed on bell with rising sun motif / "I.P." within ellipse / "``SOLBRON'' / (REGISTERED) / CLASS A" / trumpet and banner trademark containing "TRADE MARK" and "BOOSEY" / LIGHT VALVE / BOOSEY & Co. / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STT. / LONDON / 81878 / ENG. / & / 9 EAST 17th. STT. / NEW YORK / Guaranteed / British Made / Throughout"; on valve top caps "PATENT" and "16", "17", "18"; on valve stems and bottom caps "16", "17", "18"; on right side of 3rd valve casing "18"; on right side of 2nd valve casing "17 / S" / trumpet and banner trademark containing "TRADE MARK" and "BOOSEY" / "65178"; on right side of 1st valve casing "16".
