DescriptionTechnical description: Constructed with a straight body in one section, possibly of fruitwood varnished dark brown, into which is inserted the reed and onto which is fitted the wooden wind-cap. The wind-cap has a slot for the player to blow through. There is a single vent-hole in the bell. The bore is cylindrical to c 30mm below the vent-hole, below which it flares only slightly. Because the player has no direct contact with the reed, it is impossible to overblow; the range is just over one octave. L0: T; G♯₄. L1: T; A₄. L2: T. L3: T. R0: T. R1: T. R2: T. R3: T. R4: T (displaced sideways). Keyhead type: flat, square, with slightly clipped corners. Keymount type: hinges let into body with no raised ring. Playing accessories: with a reed mounted on a cylindrical brass staple of diameter whether the reed is made of cane or an articifial substance, It is mounted between two brass blades with a screw it is possible to adjust the opening of the reed. Usable pitch: Plays at A₄ = 415 Hz. Performance characteristics: The age of the reed adversely affects the performance; although most notes can be blown up to pitch, this requires a lot of effort even for a wind-cap instrument.
