Description2 valves. Technical description: Brass with plain garland; fixed valve loops, no valve tuning-slides; main tuning-slide possibly shortest of several original alternatives for crooking in `Inventionshorn' manner. Valve type: 2 Stölzel valves (top sprung); alignment of each by a guide pin screwed right through the casing, the pin also locating the lower ends of spring. Repair History: Mouthpipe repaired, original minimum bore c 11.8mm. Overall size: 393; bell 131. Sounding length: minimum 1735. Bore: at c 89 from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.6; m.t.s. at c 423mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bores 11.85 - 11.95 (sic); centre of valve cluster at c 1058mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (2,1) 11.65; at 868mm from bell end, c 11.65; at c 434mm from bell end, 16.5. B = 0.76. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: Shank/crook receiver taper 12.6 - 11.8. Inscribed on bell garland "Metzler & Son, / London."; main tuning-slide inscribed on square brass plate on stay "F". Disastrous multiple cracks on bell and garland; several splits in main tubing; both valve touchpieces missing, both valve pistons stuck; possible other `inventions' tuning slides missing.
