DescriptionApparently of provincial origin rather than from one of the London makers. Technical description: Copper tubing, including inner slides, with brass ferrules, stays, bow guards and bell garland. One-piece bell section, no tuning-slide. No stockings. Bell tube arranged so that the bell mouth is nearer the foot of the main slide than on most tenor trombones. Overall size: 913; bell 148. Sounding length: minimum 2230. Bore: at c 50mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.6; descending slide, 10.8; ascending slide, 10.65; at 1115mm from bell end, c 10.65; at c 445mm from bell end, 15.05; at 17.6mm from bell end, 94.3. B = 0.74. Bell cutoff = 1100 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.4 - 11.4. No inscriptions. Decorative features: Brass shield on side of bell (without inscription). Lent with mouthpiece (3228), not appropriate for this instrument. |
