Description3 valves. Technical description: Brass; compact layout; looped m.t.s. and 1st and 3rd v.t.s. No water-key. Valve type: 3 Köhler patent lever valves (Köhler's modification of Shaw's disk valves); watch springs in drums on valve axles. Valves actuated by finger slides in tubes in plane of each disk, attached to spring drum by pivot. Bronze inner disks. Overall size: 510; bell 168. Sounding length: minimum 3170. Bore: at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.3; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 11.8; distance to 2nd valve c 400mm, v.t.s. (2) bore 12.5; m.t.s., v.t.s, (3,1) bore 12.5; at 1585mm from bell end, c 13.0; at c 704mm from bell end, 18.4; at 17.1mm from bell end, 111.6. B = 0.67. Bell cutoff = 1000 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 - 11.7. Inscribed on plate on bellpipe "789 / BY HER MAJESTY'S / ROYAL LETTERS PATENT / J. SHAW / INVENTOR / KOHLER SOLE MAKER / 35 HENRIETTA STT. / COVENT GARDEN LONDON"; on garland "KOHLER / HENRIETTA. ST. / COVENT. GARDEN / LONDON". Two spring drum retaining nuts missing.
