Technical description: silver-plated brass; rack-and-pinion control of m.t.s.; two water-keys; fitting for music card holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves and with rotary quick-change valve for left hand operation. Cornet. Nominal pitch: Bb . A. 3 valves + quick change valve. Maker: Boosey & Co. London. 1926. Serial number: instrument 126464; valves 99662. According to firm's archives (Instrument Books), the instrument was "Bb Cornet. 2/2d & I.P." Model A10 made by Bauwens in a batch of 12. Overall size: 430; bell 121. Bore: m.t.s. 11.0 11.6; v.t.s. (3,2,1) 11.6. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 9.7 8.9. Inscribed on bell "N.V.A." within rectangle / "''SILBRON'' / (REGISTERED) / CLASS A" / trumpet and banner trademark incorporating "TRADEMARK" and "BOOSEY" / "BOOSEY & Co. Ltd. / MAKERS LONDON / S / 126464 / British Throughout"; on side of valve casings and bottom caps "34", "35", "36"; on 2nd valve casing: trumpet and banner motif incorporating "TRADEMARK" and "BOOSEY" / "99662"; at bottom of 2nd valve casing "PATENT 193729"; on main tuning slide "464 / I.P"). Decorative features: mother of pearl buttons. Purchased by lender with, probably formerly used with and possibly supplied by manufacturer with mouthpiece (5863).
