Technical description: Straight; copper with german silver sheath covering upper body. With integral mouthpiece of brass; external diameter 25.5; flat rim contour; maximum bite curvature 1.0; cup diameter 16.4; funnel cup shape with smoothly blended throat; cup depth c 16; bore minimum diameter 4.5.
Inscription: on bell "1861" / double medallion / "1862 / KOHLER & SON / MAKERS / 61 VICTORIA STREET / WESTMINSTER / (FROM COVENT GARDEN) / LONDON". Mouthpiece has stamp on side (in the style of a hallmark) "J K / A K".
General usage of type: Commonly called the 'yard of tin' or 'short horn' to distinguish it from the longer Mail horn. Used by the passenger coaches around Britain which used two horses in tandem.
