DescriptionTechnical description: Single-manual Flemish harpsichord. Compass 57 notes A₁ - F₆ [AA - f''']. Three registers 2 × 8-ft, 1 × 4-ft. String lengths (plucking points): F₆ 133 (51), C₆ 179 (58), F₅ 264 (70), C₅ 347 (79), F₄ 507 (97), C₄ 644 (109), F₃ 856 (128), C₃ 1016 (137), F₂ 1233 (145), C₂ 1371 (153), A₁ 1429 (156). Repair History: Originally a standard Ruckers type with two registers but with a chromatic bass instead of the usual short octave. Instrument underwent ravelement in the 18th century. The wrestplank is a replacement. Restored by Hugh Gough in 1952; restored by John Barnes in 1974. |
