DescriptionTechnical description: The round, concave, light-coloured pernambuco stick has a leather grip, a rounded channel carved into the stick for the frog to slide along, and ends in a modern head with an ivory headface and ebony headface lining. The screw-mechanism, squared, ebony frog has a mother-of-pearl slide, mother-of-pearl decorative eyes, and a nickel underslide, ferrule, and one-piece heel and backplate. The bottom edges of the frog and ferrule are rounded. The ferrule does not have a ferrule wedge. The ebony button with two nickel rings is octagonal with a rim. Measurements: Weight: 54g. Hair length: 651mm. Balance point: 272mm. Head height: 24.05mm. Head width: 10.3mm. Face length: 21.1mm. Tip diameter: 6.0mm. Frog diameter: 8.5mm (measured at 200 to avoid grip). Nipple range: 0.7 to 1.0mm. Period of oscillation: 1.36. Distance from pivot to tail: 67.9mm. Button length: 15.3mm. Ferrule width: 11.8mm. Frog + stick height: 26.25mm. Frog top length: 44.4mm. Inscriptions: The thumb side of the stick is stamped "BAZIN" upside down over the frog; the stamp is 2.26mm high and 9.41mm wide. The bottom of the "B" and the cross beam in the "A" are faint. The under side of the stick also has an "X" scratched into it, between the grip and the frog. The front end of the underslide als ohas an "X" scratched in it. The tip of the ivory headface is missing, and the headface is cracked from the top of the head mortise on the thumb side. There is a crack from the back of the frog at the top of the thumb side. There are scratches on frog. Given with and possibly formerly used with violin (750).
