DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass. 3rd valve tubing forms thumb rest. Windway runs mouthpipe - m.t.s. - 3 - 2 - 1 - auxiliary tuning-slide - bell. Water-key. Fitting for music card-holder. Similar design to (202) and (1793). Fitting for music card-holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves.
Overall size: 1010; bell 404.
Bore: m.t.s. and v.t.s.(3,2,1) and auxiliary m.t.s. 17.1.
Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 14.2 - 13.7.
Bell inscribed "CLASS / A" / "50 MEDALS OF HONOUR" within banner / monogram FB / "BESSON & CO / Prototype / 198 EUSTON ROAD / LONDON" / five pointed star; and "PROVIDED / BY THE / WOMBWELL REFORM CLUB / FOR THE USE OF / WOMBWELL TOWN BAND / JANUARY 1912"; on sides of valve casings "9", "8" / "BESSON & CO / BREVETE" within ellipse with five pointed star / "65757", "7".
Decorative features: Floral embellishment around inscription on bell.
