Description

Technical description: Silver-plated brass. With extension to tuning-slide for playing in B♭ or A. Leadpipe enters 3rd valve casing at 15° left of front; 3rd valve loop leaves from right and returns to right; bellpipe exits 1st valve casing at the left. Single water-key. Two shanks for, respectively, C and B♭, B♮ and A. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom-sprung; alignment by key on piston. Sounding length: extension to tuning slide for Bb or A adds 154mm to sounding length; overall length of shank (a) 101.6; shank (b) 182; bit (c) 31.5. Bore: bit at c 31.5mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 8.0; short shank at c 25mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 8.6; short shank at distal end, 8.6; long shank at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 8.6; long shank at distal end, 8.8; instrument body at c 50mm from shank/crook receiver (local minimum bore) 10.2; m.t.s. at c 224mm from shank/crook receiver, tuning slide bore 11.6; v.t.s. bore (3,2,1) 11.6. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. on both shanks 9.6 8.7; external taper on both shanks 11.2 11.7. Bit (c): m.r.t. 9.6 8.7, external taper 8.8 9.8; shank/crook receiver taper 11.7 11.4. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Inscribed on bell "LEGION D'HONNEUR" in banner / "J T L" within wreath / "HORS CONCOURS / PARIS / 1878.1889.1900" / row of medallions / "QTE SUPRE / JEROME / THIBOUVILLE LAMY / 10 CHARTERHOUSE STREET EC / LONDON / MADE IN PARIS". Inscribed on valves "4", "5", "6". Playing accessories: tuning bit of silver plated brass; mute and music card holder. With leather case. Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch.
