DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood; 2 sections; 1 copper ferrule, 1 ivory ferrule and ivory cap; oval embouchure-hole; large R2 finger-hole; all key-holes plugged except D♯; G♯ key-hole on nearside. 4 keys. Keymount type: knob for B♭ and F, with brass saddle for F; copper saddle screwed on for D♯. Keyhead type: keys not present. Repair History: D♯ mount is a replacement; G♯ key-hole filled but indentation for key and spring still visible. Inscribed "E / KOHLER / LONDON.". The `E' indicates that this is an E♭ instrument. Performance characteristics: [Original range D⁴ - A⁶ (sounding E♭⁵ - B♭⁷)]. Not playable due to position of cork (not movable in present condition) and lack of D♯ key. |
