DescriptionSupplied to firm's Dublin branch; returned to London July 1924. Technical description: Brass. Main tuning-slide extension piece for lowering pitch from F to E♭, overall length 160. Water-key. Fitting for music card-holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom-sprung; alignment by key on piston. Metal partitions. Repair History: Valve bottom caps and touchpieces are replacements, at least in part. The 2nd valve tuning-slide reconstructed by S. Benzie, 1999, retaining original knuckles and bow, replacing missing slide legs with slides of bore 11.8. Overall size: 475; bell 193. Sounding length: minimum 1764; main tuning slide extension adds 228 to air column length. Bore: mouthpipe at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 10.4; m.t.s. at c 162mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 11.4; m.t.s. at c 234mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 11.7; centre of valve cluster at c 445mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. (1,2,3) 11.7, 882mm from bell end, c 17.4; c 582mm from bell end, 24.6. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.2 - 10.7. Inscribed on bell with royal coat of arms and "BY APPOINTMENT / TO THE LATE / QUEEN VICTORIA / Rudall Carte & Co. Ltd. / Manufacturers / 23 / BERNERS STREET / OXFORD STREET / LONDON / 6458"; on valve casings "4", "5", "6". Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch.
