Technical description: Silver-plated brass; medium rim contour; maximum bite curvature 2.5; intermediate cup shape; maximum throat curvature 15. Cup volume 9384; shape quotient 1.148. Overall size: length 79.9; external diameter 41.0. Sounding length: cup depth 29. Bore: cup diameter 27.5; minimum diameter 8.5. Depth of taper: shank depth 36.1. Diameter of taper: maximum 14.0; minimum 11.3. Stamped on side of cup (faintly) "3". Purchased with and possibly formerly used with sousaphone in Eb (430). Specific literature references: G.S.
