Technical description: Boxwood; 5 sections; silver keys and 2 cutters; ivory ferrules, mouthpiece and studs; left-hand pipe has 6 finger-holes (top one containing ebony plug), and keys for D, F, D[♯]and low C♯; right-hand pipe has 4 finger-holes, keys for C (thumb, with ebony plug in key-hole), B, F and D♯, and vent-hole at foot; two-part wind-cap.
Keymount type: knob.
Keyhead type: 7 flat octagonal, 1 open-standing round flat for low C♯.
Stamped on lower part of cap "SIMPSON / PATENT"; stamped on head section "SIMPSON / PATENT" and "260. REGENT STREET / OXFORD STREET / LONDON"; stamped on each pipe "SIMPSON / PATENT / SIMPSON"; stamped with note names by keyheads for D, F and D♯ (stamped "D") on LH pipe, and B and F on RH pipe.
